January is School Board Recognition Month and an opportunity for local schools and communities to honor Oklahoma's more than 2,500 elected school board members for their dedication to children and schools.

"Enid Public Schools is proud to have a board so invested in the education of Enid children," said Dr. Dudley Darrow, Superintendent of EPS. "We look forward every year to taking the time to say ‘thank you’ to our board members for their time and dedication to the students in our schools.”

School board members across the state develop policies and make tough decisions regarding complex educational and social issues that impact the entire community. EPS board members bear responsibility for an annual budget of $98 million, over 7,300 students, over 1,000 employees and 18 schools.

“School board members are essential in ensuring student success,” said Darrow. “We are incredibly thankful for their passion for public education and support of EPS students and staff.”

The men and women serving on the EPS Board, and the year they began their service, are Rev. Joe Blackwood, 2020; Matt Lohman, 2021; Randy Long, 2022; Chad Mantz, 2021; Matt Sampson, 2014; Dr. Kim Tinius, 2024; Torry Turnbow, 2014; and Vance Air Force Base honorary member Col. Nekitha Little, 2023.
